Industry

From the magical chemistry that simplifies so many problems, to the raw materials and production lines that support our communities, we support the good work of our Industry partners.

Industry

Beyond the communities where we live—but nevertheless integral to our lives—the world of Industry moves in marvelous fashion, providing everything from the raw materials to the finished goods that make modern society possible.

This is a land of giant machines and fantastically curated landscapes, other-worldly pressures and temperatures, but it is also the world of people, experts in their fields, and owners and operators who deserve projects engineered for maximum safety and value.

We’re helping clients realize projects across a wide array of industry sectors, drawing on the depth of our own multidisciplinary engineering expertise and our excellent track record in project and program management to deliver world-class results to local, national, and multi-national operations.

Our clients can rely on us for feasibility studies, front end design and basic engineering, facilities planning and engineering, automation, process design, procurement, detail engineering, commissioning and decommissioning, and other value-added services. We are also well positioned to advise on cost control-related decisions, helping industry player maintain a competitive edge through solutions designed to minimize operational and transport overheads.

As in every facet of our work, we give the maximum attention to health and safety concerns and risk management—particularly environmental concerns—providing critical inputs at every stage, from pre-project due diligence to post-delivery operational advice. We are also highly qualified to offer specialized services to solve regulatory issues.

Manufacturing

Challenges in manufacturing are increasingly bearing on data, good process, and automation.

We can help build and optimize all three.

Success in General Manufacturing relies in large part on the successful application of process engineering, project and program management, environmental studies, and safety experts, across all of which we have deep experience.

We can provide end-to-end solutions to clients, from basic engineering and technical feasibility studies, to detailed engineering, through construction, commissioning, lifecycle management and decommissioning.

Sectors we work in include:

  • Chemicals
  • Heavy Industry & Industrial Machinery
  • Light Engineering
  • Metals and Metallurgy
  • Pulp & Paper
  • Telecommunications

Industrial Infrastructure

Industrial communities have needs much like regular communities, and we offer services to ensure they feel like home.

We have the capability to create world-class infrastructure for every type of any industrial installation, from simple plants to multi-tenant industrial parks. Our deep experience in multidisciplinary engineering lets us design, deliver and manage sites that are structurally and regulatorily coherent, socially and environmentally sound, and logistically efficient.

Our core services includes:

  • On-site energy generation
  • Drainage and Effluent treatment
  • Geotechnics and Seismic studies
  • Waste Management
  • Water Supply

Mining Communities

Four of the greatest challenges facing mining operations are energy generation, transportation and roads, water resource management, and environmental protection. The bearing these issues have on both cost and risk are substantial, and as such they require solutions that are cost-effective, sustainable, and integrated.

We have the know-how to help clients consider a new mining venture, improve a current one, or prepare a plan for decommissioning. In every aspect, we can offer world-class multidisciplinary engineering, project management, and environmental and social regulatory services to ensure your vision stands on solid ground.

ENERGY
The “low hanging fruit” for mining operations have traditionally been locations close to existing power sources. As access to such resources diminish, many organizations must work in locations where energy infrastructure is poor or nonexistent.
Our expertise in energy generation gives our clients the ability to consider options that could be more cost effective than simply building new transmission infrastructure to access existing networks. We can help create monolithic or hybrid solutions using renewable energy options close to site, or devise more efficient on-site delivery methods for externally sourced power.

Renewable power generation options could include:

  • Biomass
  • Geothermal
  • Hydropower
  • Solar
  • Wind

Systemic solutions and upgrades could include:

  • Distribution and Transmission
  • Substations

WATER
We understand what the mining community understands: water issues can make or break an operation. Not only do miners often face sizeable water cost in extracting minerals from host ores, but the wastewater produced in this process often requires further processing before it can be safely returned to the water table. There is then the additional cost of the onsite mining community itself, which requires robust freshwater and wastewater systems to support staff and personnel.

We have deep experience in investigating surface and ground water tables, even in arid regions where these can be difficult to assess and even more difficult to access. We are also able to manage wastewater from operations and from staff, providing solutions that ensure the health and safety not only of the project, but of the entire site community.

Our water infrastructure services:

  • Dams and reservoirs
  • Flood risk management
  • Ground and surface water modelling

Our water treatment services

  • Desalination
  • Water reticulation
  • Wastewater treatment

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Given the essentiality and elevated risk profile of their work, mining organizations are increasingly leading the way on ESG-related issues. Environmental permitting has always been a challenge, but we can also offer site surveys to assess unknown environmental impacts.

Pro-active environmental measures are not only risk management issues—they also provide media commenting opportunities and can serve as value-added selling points in future bids for government contracts, funding campaigns, and partnership accords.

Our environmental assessment services include:

  • Air and water quality
  • Ecology
  • Environmental impact
  • Noise and vibration

We are also able to provide infrastructure and systems-based support, including:

  • Landscape and urban design
  • Waste management

ROADS AND TRANSPORT
From engineering mining roads in difficult terrain, to ensuring the logistics of your operations deliver cost-effective returns, we can help you develop a master plan for the transport of people, equipment and supplies.

We are able to devise end-to-end logistical solutions for every piece of the mining journey, including road and bridge construction, heavy haul rail, ensuring the security and efficient journey our client’s minerals even offsite, in ports and other shipping-related circumstances.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Our advisory and project management teams understand that standing up mining operations is a time sensitive endeavor. Mining success is deeply connected to the organization with which suppliers and contractors work together to deliver project timelines.

We can aid mine owners and their partners in frankly assessing progress, providing project management expertise which supports all parties to deliver on time and on budget, while keeping quality and safety at the center of the picture.

Our management services cover commercial, contract, design, projects and programs, risk and value management.
We are also able to provide services related to due diligence, estimating, feasibility studies, procurement, project audit, project controls, and project monitoring.

SOCIAL LEGACY
Understanding the short, medium, and long-term effects a mine has on the local community is integral to the success of the project. Leading mining organisations are putting the health of surrounding communities at a premium, understanding that safe and careful operations are just as important as the legacy left after mining is completed.

We can help long-term minded clients see beyond the potential for positive economic growth in the local community and understand not only the potential strain an influx of new workers brings, but also end-of-life scenarios for the mining locale. Ensuring sustainable social benefits for local populations will bring recurrent benefits for mining organisations, including better marketability and faster future financing.

Our social impact consulting services include:

  • Community investment and development planning
  • Labour and human rights
  • Skill Development
  • Social impact assessment, management and monitoring
  • Stakeholder engagement and grievance management
